To Bill or not to Bill

There's been a lot of debate regarding the state of the current health care legislation that won the Senate democrats approval yesterday. No public option, the fact that current health benefits would be taxed and a mandate for all Americans to buy insurance regardless. Not so kosher.

Although these 3 major issues make the bill less than...most of the bill is a step in the right direction. It limits power to big health insurance companies, it strips down big PHARMA spending, and it brings in more people under the blanket of medicare then we have now.

No, it's certainly not the bill I would like to see, but anything at this point is a good start. Health care has been a 60+ year debate, and we've seen absolutely nothing come of it, ever. This bill starts the actual foundation to get the ball rolling, and that's a good thing.

This legislation can always be modified later.

  1. This bill is an insult to the American people. Nevertheless, to give the GOP a win now would be an even worse insult to the American people. The time to start advocating change to this bill is before the ink from Obama's signature dries.

  2. I think that's a fair assesment.
